Privacy Policy

PyScroller (“we”, “us”) is a reading app that lets you scan your own books and documents, read public-domain classics, and use AI to summarize, translate, and answer questions about what you read. This policy explains what we collect and why. We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and name to create and identify your account. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only receive the relay address Apple provides.
Your content. Documents and pages you scan or import, and the highlights, bookmarks, notes, and reading position you create, are stored on our servers so they can sync across your devices.
AI requests. When you use an AI feature (ask a question, summarize, translate, transcribe a scan), the relevant text or page image is sent to our AI provider to generate the response. We keep a usage record (counts and token totals) to operate the free-tier limits and your subscription.
Subscription status. If you subscribe, Apple tells us your subscription’s product and status. Apple processes the payment — we never receive your card number or billing details.
How we use it
To provide the app: store and sync your library, run the AI features you request, and manage your free-tier allowance and subscription. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) authenticate you. Apple processes subscription payments. Our AI provider (currently Google’s Gemini API) processes the text and images you submit to AI features solely to return a result; per its API terms for our tier, that content is not used to train its models. We use no advertising or cross-app tracking services.
Your choices & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Delete Account). This permanently removes your synced documents, annotations, translations, and other account data from our servers. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device’s Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Security & retention
Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. We keep your content while your account exists and delete it when you delete your account, except limited records we must retain for legal or billing reasons.
Children
PyScroller is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above. Questions? Reach us via the in-app Feedback feature or at support@kynou.com.
